Working with Funders

Funders are important stakeholders in your evaluation. Ideally, you will be able to engage your funder(s) when designing your evaluation, in particular, when budgeting for evaluation and prioritizing evaluation questions.

Most funders want to know what's working about your program and why. They will appreciate having access to accurate evaluation results for the program that they supported, and most funders are not expecting evaluations to be all positive. Keep this in mind if you or your stakeholders are worried about an evaluation turning up negative results. Whatever the outcomes, you and your funder will benefit from a better understanding of the results of your program and how it can be improved.
