Your evaluation is only as good as the data you collect, so be selective about the instruments you use. This section reviews the most commonly used types of instruments and some features of their designs.
As you work on your data collection instruments, think ahead to how you will manage the data once they are collected. Knowing how the data will be aggregated and analyzed and whether you want to be able to make comparisons can influence how instruments are designed. For example, do you want to be able to generate numbers or percentages and compare them over time? The next section in this toolkit includes information about data analysis.
